With players drawn from both STEAK and Minute Steak; and ranging in department from Affiliates & Finance to SEO, Paid Search and Social we had a solid team ready to take on the best the Affiliates industry could throw at us!
Sadly we had a drop-out early on with Simon Wong too ill to take part. But we moved on pretty quickly and got stuck-in to some bowling!
After a rocky start where STEAK lost the first round, we pulled it back with some tactical blocking and skilful throws, and took the win against the MyVoucherCodes team 3-1. Some special skills from Katie Saunders earned her the player of the match award.
Next up was the ol’ STEAK favourite – Table Tennis. Criteo were a solid team, but STEAK won 3 out of the 4 games. Special mention must go to Graeme Carlisle for his clear win that earned him player of the match.
Before we could take a breath, we were thrown onto the Dodgeball court against SKY. Some brutal throws followed. The team rallied, remembering the vital tactics of, “Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge” with Keith Cartwright and Erika Van Den Berg showing particular zeal we won the game and Keith took the top player award. We even managed to fit in, “a two-on-one switcharoo”.
After a short break, STEAK showed off their Netball skills against Tapjoy. Going ahead with a goal from Jeremy Thomson the game was under control until the dying seconds when Tapjoy somehow managed to pull one back. In the end it was a 1-1 draw with Douglas Sheard taking the top player award, mainly due to solid (but fair) defence.
Last up was football against TopCashBack. It was a tight match with TopCashBack taking the lead by half time. STEAK re-organised in the second half and managed to pull it back to a draw at 4-4, facilitated by a couple of goalkeeping errors from TopCashBack and some superb keeping from Keith Cartwright. Then, in the final play, the spirit of the Raging Bulls took over. Keith fed out to Douglas Sheard, who dummied the defender and crossed it to Elliot Jones to score the winner!
In the end STEAK finished 4th – just missing out on the awards. Thanks to Affiliate Window for a great day and for the drinks and food in Canary Wharf afterwards.
